Hey Amber, thanks for doing this quick Q&A with Pawsh! Could you briefly introduce yourself and what do you do?

Hello, I'm Amber Akin with Pawsh. I am a dog-groomer located in the bay area, CA. I service mostly pets from the San Francisco area, doing house-call and at-home grooming at my home based salon!

How has your experience been like with Pawsh?

It has been absolutely amazing! I signed up during a really tough time in my life where I was at a crossroads, unsure of where my life was going to go. I was about to have a baby and very unhappy with the salon environment I had been grooming in. 

The salon I was in was very loud and the dogs seemed very stressed. I took my first client with Pawsh on a weekend where I wasn't working at the busy shop. The experience was like night and day. Pawsh helped me set up the appointment very easily. 

I was able to have a client the next day and was easily able to navigate to their residence through Pawsh. I introduced myself and instantly saw their adorable ball of fluff. He was super happy and relaxed. 

We got through the grooming in his own home where he was the most comfortable. It was a breeze. The customer even rebooked for next time with me! Since this wonderful experience I have continued with the app until I had my baby. 

Now I am full-time working with Pawsh, making my dream come true of working for myself doing what I love. The app has been very easy to navigate and the staff actively helps find clients for me to take on.

What made you choose Pawsh over other grooming marketplace platforms?

I chose Pawsh over other platforms because of the ease of accessibility as well as having someone there that can help you get appointments. It takes a lot of the stress of finding clients off of my shoulders. I have not found an app that is that active in actually helping you get clients.

What's the one big piece of advice you would give to new dog groomers?

Work hard and follow your dream! Do not settle for someone else making you lose your passion. If grooming is your passion, you can always find a way to push forward~! If you are unhappy with where you are working, you can always work for yourself. You have the skills to make something wonderful.

How can dog owners be better prepared for their first grooming session?

The best advice I have for dog owners is to honestly make grooming seem like a great thing to look forward to! Dogs feed off of your own energy, so if you're nervous they will be as well. So tell them how pretty they look after their groom, tell them their favorite groomer is coming over! Find a groomer that you trust, and that your dog will trust.

What do you love most about Pawsh?

My favorite thing about Pawsh is how attentive they are to their customer/client base. They quickly respond to suggestions, requests, or problems. Their customer service is wonderful.

Would you recommend Pawsh to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes! I have recommended it to several friends/family already. :) I think it is a wonderful way for burnt-out groomers to work for themselves and fire their passion again.

Any last words/comments you want to include?

I just wanted to thank Pawsh for the opportunity I was given with this app. I am a mother of 3 children and have a very hectic life full of appointments. With Pawsh I have been able to have my home-life back. I don't have to work 9-5 nonstop. I can go to my kids soccer practice then groom a dog right after! It has made my life so much less-stressful. 

I still get to do what I absolutely love, while still caring for the people who mean the most to me.
